Write an English Song

We invite British composers up to the age of 30 to compose a song to original English words.

Composers must choose texts on this year’s theme (see below). Please bear in mind copyright laws. Poets have to have been dead for 70 years before you can use their poems without seeking permission.

The theme this year is “Outsiders

Your choice of poems /prose can be by or about anyone outside the recognised limits of societies – exiles, mystics, people with special powers or who are ‘different’ in some way, people who are ‘outsiders’ through love or circumstance.
