Song Writing Competition for Composers
sponsored by the Thompson Educational Trust
The AESS is reinstating the composers prize and invites British composers up to the age of 30 to compose a new English Song.
Texts must be chosen from a list of nominated poems.
The theme this year is War Poetry as part the centenary of the Armistice which ended the First World War.
Songs can be for low or high voice and piano.
Deadline for completed song accompanied by an application form is September 28th 2018.
Results will be announced beginning of October 2018.
1st Prize £500
2nd Prize £300
3rd Prize £200.
The winning song will be performed at the Prize Winners concert on November 3rd 2018 in London

Rules of the AESS English Song Composers Competition
Composers must be British.
Upper age limit 30
Song must be for voice and piano.
Song must last no longer than 6 minutes.
Texts used must be chosen from a selection published on the AESS website or obtained from firstname.lastname@example.org

Closing date for submitting songs September 28th 2018
Winning songs announced at the beginning of October 2018
2nd Prize £300
Completed songs should be sent in a PDF file format with an application form to firstname.lastname@example.org posted to Sarah Leonard at the address below.
Winning song will be performed at the Prize-winners concert on November 3rd 2018.
