The 2016 Annual General Meeting and Dinner took place at the Royal Over-Seas League in St. James’ on Sunday April 17th. 20 people attended the AGM, a little down on last year and there were about 35 diners.
The pre-dinner entertainment was provided by Stephen Miles and Jane Roberson who performed a delightful and informative lecture recital on the theme of folk songs entitled Folk Songs & Other Ditties.
The guest speaker was singer and broadcaster Catherine Bott who delighted us on the subject of ‘finding her own voice’, both as a singer and a broadcaster, and the need to observe the correct and appropriate way to speak to an audience, whether in person or via the airwaves. Tips she had picked up along the way included “don’t sing in Dutch” and “never eat chocolate before you sing!”
