Welcome to the website of the Association of English Singers and Speakers.

Our members comprise performers, teachers and those with an interest in our core aim, which is:

‘to encourage the communication of English words, in singing and speech, with clarity, understanding and imagination’.

James Gilchrist - Chair

I'm absolutely delighted to be taking over as chair of this wonderful association. I hope that we will continue in our mission to spread the glories of the English language in word and song, through our competitions and publications. It's hard to come in after the astonishing chairmanship of Sarah Leonard. Especially so, since it was through her untimely death that she has gone. She would have wanted the society to thrive, and I shall do everything I can to make that happen.

Calling all composers, singers, pianists and actors:
we are here for you.
