The final of the Catherine Lambert Recital Prize was held at St. John’s School, Leatherhead.
Eight finalists performed in front of an appeciative, if small, audience for a first prize of £300 and a second prize of £200 both given by Catherine and a third prize of £100 given by Coral Gould. Thanks are due to them and to Carolyn Richards our superb co-ordinator, to Nicholas Smith, Director of Music of the school and to the panel of judges: Alison Horriben, David Kirby-Ashmore and Garry Humphreys. The winner from Lincoln Minster School was Rosanna Cooper. She and the second prizewinner Kieran Brunt both study with Veronica Veysey Campbell at the Junior RCM. Third was Milly Forrest who studies with Sara Reynolds at the Junior RAM. This year the judges decided to award £50, given originally by Judy Hildesley, to a student pianist Olga Jorgensen. It is not very often that performers in this age range 13-18 are accompanied by students and the prize has not been awarded before.
